German Election: What the Bavarian Industry Expects from the New Government
The German people have voted for the conservative parties CDU/CSU as the strongest force. A positive aspect is that a two-party coalition is possible under the leadership of the CDU/CSU and the election winner Friedrich Merz. This will make governing much easier than with the three party-coalition between Social Democrats, Greens and Liberals.
The Bavarian Industry now expects the CDU/CSU to form a government swiftly so that the necessary economic turnaround can take place quickly and effectively. In view of the immense domestic and foreign policy challenges facing our country, it is important that we get a government capable of taking action as quickly as possible.
What the Bavarian Industry Expects from the New Federal Government
In terms of domestic policy, the new federal government has two key tasks: Firstly, it must initiate an economic turnaround and restore Germany's competitiveness as a business location. We are too expensive, we are too complicated, we are not equipped enough for the future - and we are too inefficient.
In our 100-days program for the new government we call for the following actions:
- Reduce the corporate tax burden
- Make energy affordable again
- Reduce non-wage labor costs and reform social security system
- Reduce bureaucracy
- Focus on investments for the future in transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure, research spending, funding programs to cope with the transformation and the construction of housing in compliance with the debt brake
- Create legislative incentives to activate the full workforce potential
In terms of international policy, we expect from Germany to maintain its existing economic relations - especially with its most important trading partners, the USA and China. At the same time, Germany must facilitate and expand access to new sales and procurement markets in order to reduce one-sided dependencies. In addition, Germany must resume its leading role in the European Union so that Europe can meet other global powers at eye level.
Please find more information about our concrete claims for action in our 100-days program and our election program vbw – DeutschlandPlan 2030 (both in German).
